Unsung heroes of mobile phones - the Samsung F210
As we look forward to all the top-end, mind-blowing mobile phones due out towards the end of this year, I reckon it’s time to have a quick look back at a wee little mobile phone that I still have a soft spot for, and that is still on sale.
It’s tiny, it’s cute, it’s the Samsung F210.
And no, I’m not turning into a woman, before you ask, I just reckon it’s a neat little mobile phone, with a few nice tricks up its sleeve.
Born from the heritage of the old Samsung X830 (which was actually not a very nice phone, since it only came in a range of nightmarishly-bright colours, and had an unorthodox, and unusable, keypad), the Samsung F210 improves on the swivelling design by giving it a proper keypad, and therefore, actually making this mobile phone usable!
And of course, it’s even more focused on music, because, as with a growing number of mobile phones, the Samsung F210 falls into the ‘1Gb and above’ category, marking it out as a proper music mobile phone, and one that you’ll get a huge amount of songs on. the little round, scrolling wheel thing on the front of the swivel is a neat touch, as well, and it makes using the music player on the Samsung F210 an absolute doddle.
So, yes, it’s cute, it’s well-designed, it’s got some brilliant features, and it’s got that superb jog wheel on the front, for controlling the music player.
So, would I get a Samsung F210?
Well, no, obviously not. I like my mobile phones big, chunky and more powerful than North Korea.
