I got off Ebay a Samsung X426 as a cheap replacement for my fathers phone. Now when I insert a SIM all the phone saids is "wrong card"?  Now it has AT&T Wireless branding and I am a orange customer and my SIM is a 3G card so its as new as they come. I have tried more than 1 AT&T SIM. The only thing I can think of is that it may be a blue(old AT&T) phone. It has the AT&T globe with AT&T Wireless beside it on the outside.
